A very merry Christmas to you all from everybody in the early years team in Foundation class and our Nursery class! We have had the most amazing term and couldn’t be prouder of our children. Each and every child has made fantastic progress since September and we feel very lucky to have a class of such curious and enthusiastic learners. Both the children and staff have embraced our ‘in the moment’ and child led style of planning and learning and we can’t wait to see where our journey takes us next.
A special mention must go out to all of our children for their fantastic efforts in our Christmas play ‘Baubles’ and the Nursery Christmas concert. What a show it was! We were amazed by our children and were so pleased that they were able to share with you their shows and show you how much fun we had putting it all together.
Our learning over the past two weeks has been wonderfully festive alongside all of the usual unique and wonderful learning that your children choose for themselves. We have been ordering different sized bauble, designing and making Christmas cards, using our senses to explore snow and ice and writing letters to Father Christmas. In Foundation class we have also been learning about one more and one less in maths and have begun learning some digraph sounds in phonics! These are sounds that are made up of two letters such as ‘sh’ ‘th’ and ‘qu’. After Christmas we will continue to learn new sounds and new tricky words. We will also continue to send your child keywords home when they are ready for a new set and will practise these in school.
Thank you for all of your continued support this term and very happy new year wishes to you and your families.
