NSPCC Assembly

We had a very important assembly recently from the NSPCC that emphasised that every child has the right to feel safe and happy. They talked to the children about “Speak out, Stay Safe” so they could understand different forms of abuse in a child-friendly approach as well as knowing how to protect themselves by speaking to a trusted adult or ringing ChildLine to get support when or if they are worried. This is what Francesca (Year 5) wrote afterwards:

“When the ladies from the NSPCC visited, they talked about Childline as well as other safety information. They ensured that we memorised its number, which is 0800 1111. If we want to say something to Childline and we are worried, the number is free to call and we can call secretly. Also, we could make up a name if we needed to and the NSPCC wouldn’t tell anyone what we say unless they needed to help us as it is confidential.”
