We have had a fantastic term learning about our topic, ‘Tremors.’ During this topic we have learnt about tectonic plates; the earth’s structure and how rocks and fossils are formed. The children have also shown an incredible knowledge of volcanoes and the historical eruption of Pompeii. We received some amazing volcano homework from the children and spent yesterday afternoon having a gallery to celebrate their achievements.
In English the children wrote a diary entry as someone who witnessed and escaped Pompeii and an explanation text about volcanic eruptions. Our celebration was on Tuesday afternoon when local geologists from The Open University came into school to give the year group the opportunity to study rocks under a microscope and demonstrate volcanic eruptions.
Our next topic will be 1066 and the Battle of Hastings.
Have a lovely Easter and don’t forget to read with your child at home to continue their amazing work. Top Tips Reading with Your child at Home
