Welcome To Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 and the start of the Key Stage 2 adventure!

We are delighted to welcome our children and families to Year 3. Our Year 3 teaching team consists of Ms Tina McNeill (3TM), Miss Hannah Savill (3HS), Mrs Kim Swain and Mrs Roberts (3KS), and we are excited to begin another year filled with learning, discovery and new opportunities.

Year 3 marks an important milestone in every child's Whitehouse journey as they move from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2. While this can feel like a big step, we know that our children arrive well-prepared, bringing with them all of the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes they have developed throughout Early Years and Key Stage 1. We are confident they will embrace the challenge and continue to flourish.

At Whitehouse Primary School, our ethos is centred on helping every child become a happy, confident and successful learner. In Year 3, we continue to place children at the heart of everything we do, creating a nurturing environment where they feel safe to take risks, challenge themselves and celebrate their achievements. As they begin Key Stage 2, children are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning, develop independence and become increasingly responsible for their choices and actions.

As learning becomes more challenging, children will strengthen their reading, writing and mathematical understanding while also developing their ability to reason, problem solve, think critically and communicate effectively. We encourage curiosity and creativity, helping children to make connections between subjects and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Alongside academic success, we are passionate about developing character. Through our school values, children learn the importance of kindness, respect, resilience and responsibility. We encourage our Year 3 pupils to show perseverance when faced with challenges, work collaboratively with others and demonstrate empathy and understanding within our school community. These qualities help children grow into confident learners and caring individuals who are ready to make a positive contribution to the wider world.

This year promises to be full of exciting experiences, memorable learning opportunities and personal growth. We cannot wait to see the progress our children make as they begin their Key Stage 2 journey and continue to build upon the strong foundations already established at Whitehouse Primary School.

Mr Adam Dlugoszewski is the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Lower Key Stage 2.
