Squiggle whilst you wiggle!

We are pleased to share that the nursery children have settled well after the Christmas break.

Since being back, we have focused on our fine and gross motor skills. The children have enjoyed taking part in ‘Squiggle whilst you wiggle’, where the children hold flipper flappers in both hands (squares of fabric) and we dance while making movements – moving our arms up, down and side to side.  This helps with writing the letters i, l, t. Once we have danced, we make these squiggles on paper holding pens in both hands.

The children’s interests the last couple of weeks have been ice so we have created experiences in different ways; painting with coloured ice, saving dinosaurs trapped in ice and talking about the ice melting.

We have seen high levels of engagement in our creative area where the children are independently colour mixing to create new colours.
